The burger and fries were ok. Nothing special. The fries are a bit overpriced (They cost as much as the burger itself). But there is a very nice patio. The charm of this place is its location (just after the bridge, overlooking the river). Overall, it's a decent restaurant for small town Manitoba.

Popeyes is the best drive inn burger place in northern Manitoba. From May long till it’s starts to get cold. Popeyes is a one off a kind place great staff awesome food!! Ice cream and a small place for the kids to play located just on the other side of the miles hart bridge, perched a top of the burntwood river.

Nestled just beyond the Miles Hart Bridge in Thompson, Manitoba, The O.G. Popeye's offers a timeless taste of northern Canada’s small-town charm. This humble drive-in, overlooking the Burntwood River, boasts a legacy that spans over five decades, run by the same steadfast owner who has kept the flame alive since the early ’80s. The location alone—a patio with a river view—invites patrons to unwind in a serene setting, enhancing the overall dining experience.

What truly sets The O.G. Popeye's apart is its unwavering devotion to classic comfort food. The burgers are rich with bold, savory flavors, crafted with care and paired with fries that strike a satisfying balance between crispy exteriors and flakey interiors. Though some might find the prices a bit steep, especially for the fries, the quality and nostalgic appeal justify the investment. The poutine, a local favorite, delivers on taste as well, encouraged by the savory gravy and cheese—a dish that could benefit from a little extra topping, but remains an undeniably hearty treat.

Beyond the food, the warmth of the staff and the thoughtfully designed space—including a small play area for kids—make Popeye's feel less like a fast-food stop and more like a community gathering place. The echoes of years past, where generations have returned time and again for the same beloved cheeseburger, resonate deeply here. For those willing to take the drive to northern Manitoba’s edge of nowhere, The O.G. Popeye's offers more than just a meal; it offers a connection to local history and a taste that lingers long after the last bite.
